LAW 3974 - Special Problems in the Law of Lawyering


This course provides students an opportunity to study current problems in legal ethics and malpractice. The course combines reading, discussion, research, writing and field work where students obtain experience in handling legal ethics and malpractice matters. Field placements include working with disciplinary counsel, members of ethics/disciplinary committees, and lawyers who handle legal malpractice and risk management matters. 

Students will have the option of writing a traditional papers or writing shorter papers on legal ethics topics. Students will have the option of submitting papers to satisfy any one of the advanced writing requirements.   The professor will work with each student to design an individual course of study. Rather than meeting as an entire class, various sessions will be with individual students or working groups.
