MASS 104 - Media and the LawSemester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring
This course is designed to acquaint the student with censorship issues and the
way in which the United States Supreme Court has dealt with these cases. Sample
cases will be analyzed with a view to understanding the evolution of certain attitudes
and policies regarding freedom of speech and press in the United States. Controversial
subjects, such as prior restraint, obscenity, public access to the media, invasion
of privacy, libel, etc., will be discussed.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: MASS 11 or permission of instructor. Prerequisite for Journalism majors: JRNL
