HPR 171A - Clinical Experience in Athletic TrainingSemester Hours: 1 Fall, Spring
This one-credit course is designed to assist the athletic training student in developing cognitive and psychomotor skills deemed necessary to be a successful entry-level athletic trainer as defined by the Board of Certification (BOC) in Athletic Training. Students will accrue 100 hours of clinical experience under the direct supervision of an Approved Clinical Instructor (ACI) in a traditional athletic training setting. The student will demonstrate proficiency in psychomotor skills related to the following domains: risk management and injury prevention, acute care of injuries and illnesses, injury and illness assessment and evaluation, and health care administration.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: HPR 161 and 169 . Open only to students matriculated in the professional phase of the athletic training program . Course fee additional. (Formerly PESP 171A.)
