LAW 2725 - Historic Preservation and the Environmental Impact Review Process This course will examine the history and scope of Historic Preservation Law with a particular emphasis on the relationship between historic preservation and the environmental review process under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and state analogs. Course work will include the study and discussion of the social and political origins of the historic preservation movement as well as the statutory and case law enacted on the federal, state and local levels, such as the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). In addition to studying statutes and case law, students will gain practical experience in reviewing and preparing documents necessary for approval under these statutes. The course will meet the requirements for awarding Writing 2 credit.
