RHET 210 - Performance and Political Activism Semester Hours: 3
Once a Year
In this course we explore ways in which performance has been deployed as an embodied form of political activism in reform movements such as the abolition of slavery, suffrage, workers’ rights, civil rights, and LGBTQ rights, among others. Since the full experience of a performance event—everything spectators and actors feel, see, and sense— has the potential to influence how spectators feel, performers, activists and political reformers have harnessed this power for social change.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
