MPH 231 - Culminating Experience Semester Hours: 3 All MPH students are required to complete a culminating experience (CE). There are three CE options for MPH students. Each option provides students with the opportunity to develop expertise in a specific topic area, demonstrate research methods skills, and make a contribution to the field of public health: 1) manuscript (15-20 pages) that can be submitted for publication; 2) manuscript (15-20 pages) that can be submitted for a panel or symposium presentation at a professional conference; or 3) grant proposal (15-20 pages) that uses new data analyses, and that can be submitted for funding (for additional research or for a new program). Students will work with a minimum of two faculty on their CE, a research preceptor (drawn primarily from the MPH faculty) and a program adviser. As part of the CE process, students are required to complete human subjects ethics training; an IRB proposal; an oral presentation at the MPH Student Symposium; and a self-assessment and exit interview with the program director.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Students that have completed at least 28 s.h. (including MPH 200 , 202 , 203 , 204 , 221 , and 222 ) are eligible to register for this course. Pass/Fail grade only.
