PSY 418 - Clinical Seminar in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy


Semester Hours: 3
Fall, Spring
Student therapists will learn the conceptualization and treatment of psychological disorders using acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). With readings, discussions, and ongoing case supervision, advanced doctoral candidates will become competent in the various techniques which constitute ACT, such as mindfulness, values clarification, cognitive diffusion, etc., and read the latest research in this important and emergent area of therapy. 

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Open only to students matriculated in the doctoral program in clinical psychology , or permission of instructor. Credit given to this course or PSY 451, Clinical Seminar in Special Topics: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, not both. (Formerly PSY 451, Clinical Seminar in Special Topics: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.) May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
