NUR 211 - Information Technology and Health Literacy Seminar II
Semester Hours: 0.5
This course is the second of four seminars designed to further develop the nurse practitioner’s understanding of the fundamental concepts and issues surrounding technology, information management and health literacy in today’s rapidly changing health care environment and demographics. Seminars will increase in complexity as the student progresses through the program. The seminar series in Information Technology and Health Literacy will integrate the materials from courses offered concurrently in each semester. Conducted in an intensive and interactive format, this seminar is designed to address issues related to the impact of information technology on health care practitioners and consumers across the lifespan. Learners will gain experience with practical applications of information technology that improve the quality of health care communication and delivery and facilitate health care research. The course implements an interprofessional learning environment to prepare the advanced practice nurse with a foundational knowledge of the issues and challenges of low health literacy and implications to safety, outcomes and health equity.
