LYST 258 - Analytic Approaches to Language and Literacy Research Semester Hours: 3 This course focuses on data analysis within qualitative and ethnographic approaches to language and literacy research. Students will examine topics such as teacher inquiry, case study, micro-ethnography, narrative inquiry and discourse analysis. Emphasis is placed on sociolinguistic and sociocultural conceptual frameworks for language and literacy research, as well as multimodal and/or other social semiotic research, with in-depth attention to data collection and analysis. Students will employ qualitative tools in small data studies focusing on their own research topics.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: LYST 360 and LYST 370 or permission of the instructor.
