HPHS 201 - Introduction to LGBTQ+ Health Semester Hours: 3 This course introduces students to health inequalities faced by LGBTQ populations and offers possibility for biomedical and public health interventions to address the inequalities. Students will develop a working knowledge that includes: terminology and history related to LGBTQ health, key frameworks and concepts relating to LGBTQ identity and health, information about who LGBT populations are, critical issues LGBTQ populations life in their lifespan (youth, adulthood, and older adulthood), and knowledge of what health inequalities LGBTQ populations face in the areas of chronic diseases, infectious diseases, and behavioral health, as well as policy and legal frameworks to address these issues.
