The BA major in mathematics offers a broad introduction to the discipline, with an emphasis on the ability to express rigorous mathematical ideas in writing and orally. Students wishing to combine this major with the BA in math education should speak with an advisor as early as possible to plan their schedules.
Students who are also completing the B.A. in Mathematics Education are only required to take one of the courses listed above but must still complete the full 15 semester hours of electives.
Note that PHYS 011A and PHYS 011B fulfill the distribution requirement in the category of Natural Sciences. Students are also strongly encouraged to take at least one course in computer science at or above the level of CSC 015.
