The BA major in Russian and Post-Soviet Studies provides students with a solid foundation of Russian language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension. In addition, through carefully selected foundational and elective courses, students gain an understanding of Russia’s literary and cultural traditions and history. Students are encouraged to augment their study of Russian at Hofstra with study abroad.

Students in the major may complete a capstone project, in which they may write a senior or honors thesis on a literary or non-literary topic, create an annotated translation or a multimedia project, or some other experience approved by the program director.
