A bilingual and bicultural understanding of the Hispanic and American ways of
life. This specialization is designed for persons holding a baccalaureate degree
and for Spanish speaking professionals who have the necessary linguistic skills
to perform their course work in Spanish and in English.
The candidate will take a placement examination, which will be used to purposes
of advisement only, and must complete 36 hours of interdisciplinary courses as
follows: SPAN 212, 213, 214, 215, 216; one 200-level course in each of the following
areas: literature, linguistics, history, cross-cultural materials and edagogical
orientation. A master’s comprehensive examination is required.
