Mathematics, B.A. Major in


Program Requirements


Mathematics courses including MATH 71 , 72 73 , 100 , 114 , 135A , 145 171 , 146  or 172 , 3 additional s.h. of intermediate or advanced mathematics numbered 100 or above, and 9 additional s.h. in advanced mathematics numbered 110 or above, excluding MATH 185, chosen under advisement, and PHYS 11A  and 11B . MATH 100  should be taken during the fall semester of one’s senior year. Students completing an honors thesis in mathematics are exempt for the MATH 100  requirement.  PHYS 11A /11B  fulfills the distribution requirement in the category of natural sciences. Mathematics majors are advised to take at least one course in computer science. All mathematics courses presented toward the fulfillment of the degree must be completed with a minimum grade of C- with the exception of MATH 100  which is graded on a Pass/D+/D/Fail basis and must be passed.
