Tthe departmental requirement for speech-language majors is 124 semester hours for the B.A. degree including 40 semester hours in the major area as follows:

SPCH 8 - Introduction to Hearing Science Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 9 - (BH) Exploring the Communication Sciences Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 10 - (BH, CC) Multicultural Aspects of Communication and Communication Disorders Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 101A - Experimental Psycholinguistics Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 102A - Normal Language Development Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 103 - Introduction to Speech Science Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 131 - Introduction to Communication Disorders Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 132 - Disorders of Language in Childhood Semester Hours: 3
SPCH 133 - Clinical Methods in Speech and Language Disorders I Semester Hours: 2
SPCH 134 - Clinical Methods in Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders II Semester Hours: 2

Additional Requirements:

In addition to the courses listed above, students must complete, under advisement, the following requirements:

At least 3 semester hours in Biology
At least 3 semester hours in Astronomy, or Chemistry, or Geology or Natural Science or Physics.
At least 3 semester hours in Anthropology or Psychology or Sociology. Note: This requirement is separate from the requirement from PSY 40, listed above.
At least 3 semester hours in Mathematics.

Note: It is possible to choose courses within these four areas which will also satisfy the B.A. Distribution Requirements.

Undergraduates may not register for M.A. level courses in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology.
