Admission Requirements

1. A completed application form.
2. An interview with program director.
3. A written personal statement describing the candidate’s goals in the field of community health.
4. Two letters of reference that address the candidate’s potential to succeed in graduate studies and the field of community health.
5. Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
       a. At least 9 semester hours of coursework in health content areas successfully completed
          as part of an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
       b. Upon the recommendation of the program director, students with a GPA
           lower than 2.75 may be admitted by meeting one or more of the following criteria:
            i. Complete 12 probationary graduate credits maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.
            ii. Submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.

Students may transfer up to 9 credits of equivalent graduate courses from an approved institution taken within the last five years and completed with a grade of B or better (with the approval of the student’s faculty adviser only).

Competency Requirements

All students will be required to take the following workshop during the first year of matriculation:

*There is a fee equivalent to course credit associated with the above workshop.  This workshop does not carry credit toward the degree.  Required workshop may be waived for students meeting the following criteria, with the approval of the faculty adviser:
•    Recent publications
•    Previous master’s degree and documentation of above average grades on required research papers.

Prerequisite: Students who have never taken an evaluation course or who do not have equivalent experience must take RES 258 prior to registering for COMH 210.
