Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Majors and Minors

Both major and minor  programs are supervised by a full-time faculty member of French, selected by the student.

Program Requirements - Total Semester Hours: 30

30 semester hours in French above level 3, distributed as specified below in the three categories of language, culture, and literature.

Notes

  • Credit in a language course cannot be given to a student who has already earned credit for a higher-numbered course in the same language when the course numbers in question indicate level of comprehension and ability in the introductory and intermediate study of that language.
  • Language laboratory work is required in all modern foreign language courses on the 1, 2, 2R, 3, 4 level. The University general education goals and objectives relative to the composition and delivery of audience-appropriate oral presentations that develop and support a point and the demonstration of skill in oral communication for purposes such as informing, persuading, and defending are fulfilled by taking any culture and literature courses, all of which require oral presentations.
