The minor in philosophy, society and business introduces students to philosophical reflection on the practices and institutions of business, in particular with respect to the values underlying business and its development, legally, organizationally, and globally.
The minor develops a student’s analytical and critical thinking skills that are broadly valuable in all aspects of business and aims to give the student a foundation in the ways in which the liberal arts inform an understanding of business. The minor consists of the successful completion of 18 semester hours from among the courses listed below, at least 12 semester hours of which must be in philosophy course work. At least 6 semester hours of the minor must be in-residence. Students are encouraged to consider taking either PHI 011 - (HP) Introduction to Reasoning and Critical Thinking or PHI 150 - (HP) Critical Reasoning . Some courses outside PHI may have prerequisites in their specific fields; check individual course descriptions in the Bulletin.
