GEOG 060 - (NS) Introduction to Digital MappingSemester Hours: 3 Periodically
This hands-on course introduces students to the foundations, concepts, and application techniques of professional map use. This is valuable knowledge for careers as diverse as healthcare, public policy, environment & sustainability, human rights, journalism, criminology, marketing, computer science, politics, law, urban planning, history, engineering, geology, biology, and business. Students are introduced to mapping tools and methods, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data and software, spatial analysis, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), basic surveying, mobile phone maps, satellite/aerial/drone imagery, and critical map reading. No prior geography courses or technical experience is required.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Same as TPP 060 .
