Through close reading of ethnographic and qualitative research accounts, as well as commentary and related works, this course will examine the network of issues surrounding the conduct, reading, and writing of qualitative and ethnographic research, primarily in literacy and education. The issues under investigation will vary, but may include the cultural and historical roots of ethnographic research, theoretical or conceptual framing of qualitative or ethnographic research, positionality, power, representation, ethics, globalization and/or other ethical considerations.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: LYST 360 or permission of instructor .
