NAP 271 - Principles of Evidenced Based Diagnostic Testing & Coexisting Disease Management in Nurse Anesthesia Practice


Semester Hours: 4


This course will focus on the study of histology, genetics, human anatomy, and physiology, emphasizing neuroanatomy, and neurophysiology. An integrated focus on the anatomy and physiological function of organ systems, the mechanisms for the maintenance of homeostasis during the practice of nurse anesthesia will occur. Pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management of patients with specific co-existing disease conditions and the anesthesia considerations will be explored. The clinical laboratory experience will emphasize the function and maintenance of technologies employed during the peri-anesthetic period. This course aims to develop a comprehensive knowledge base in critical thinking and clinical decision-making using case-based/problem-based learning. Learners will evaluate and analyze clinical decisions obtained from case assessments and synthesize knowledge to formulate individualized perioperative anesthesia management plans.
