ACCT 310 - Applied Research Capstone in Digital Accounting Technology


Semester Hours: 3
This capstone course will focus on practical research and applications of current and emerging technologies in accounting.  During the semester, guest speakers from the accounting profession and/or academia will make presentations and engage the class in discussions.  Students will develop research skills and strengthen their knowledge of current and emerging accounting trends and their impact.  The focus of the class will be on applied research relevant to the practice of accounting.  Building on knowledge and skillsets learned in prior courses, students will have the opportunity to utilize and strengthen their technology agility and gain a practical understanding of their research by completing several independent hands-on projects utilizing current and emerging technologies. Students will be required to exercise their technological agility by learning a current and/or emerging technology program on their own and solving one or more projects using this program.  The course will also explore the ethical and social impacts of emerging technologies used in the accounting profession.  Students will present their findings of various assignments throughout the semester, concluding with a final capstone project. 

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Completion of 21 s.h. of graduate course work in the area of concentration. Open only to matriculated graduate students in the MS Accounting program.  See specific program requirements.
