MUS 004 - (AA, CC) Music Around the WorldSemester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring
Through an ethnomusicological lens, this lecture-based class is designed to develop students’ appreciation for music traditions from around the world. Introducing appropriate vocabulary and theoretical frameworks, this class is an opportunity to learn about indigenous epistemologies, decolonization, diaspora, and cultural representations in the global music industry. This course meets the Cross-Cultural distribution criteria requirements. Suggested to students in multidisciplinary studies, such as Music, Anthropology, Global Studies, Geography, Religion, and Philosophy.
