RHET 017 - (AA) Communication and Public AdvocacySemester Hours: 3 This course examines public advocacy through the lens of deliberative argument theory. Students build on their public speaking experience while applying elements of the rhetorical canon to their own messages. They’ll use the same ideas and concepts while completing case studies of historical and contemporary public advocacy campaigns. Students will learn how public arguments are developed, chosen, supported, reasoned and rebutted, chosen and constructed. Additionally, the course may consider matters of audience, public opinion, values, campaigns, lobbying and ethics.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: RHET 001 or RHET 007 .
