NUR 125 - Medical MicrobiologySemester Hours: 3 This course is an overview of common groups of human pathogenic microorganisms, including structure, pathogenicity, epidemiology, diagnosis, and laboratory identification. Modes of action of selected antimicrobials and chemotherapeutic agents are also discussed. Essential concepts for health professionals and nursing students are discussed, including recognition of infection, the spread of infection, infection control measures, and laboratory specimen collection and interpretation. Consideration is given to the interaction of microbes and virions in humans.
