BIOL 034 - Medical MicrobiologySemester Hours: 4 This course is an overview of common groups of human pathogenic microorganisms, including structure, pathogenicity, epidemiology, diagnosis, and laboratory identification. Modes of action of selected antimicrobials and chemotherapeutic agents are also discussed. Essential concepts for health professionals and nursing students are discussed, including recognition of infection, spread of infection, infection control measures, and laboratory specimen collection and interpretation. Consideration is given to the interaction of microbes and virions in humans.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: BIOL 113 : this course is designed for non-Biology majors and non-Biology minors only.
