Semester Hours: 3
Spring

This course is an introduction to the study of morphology, the role of phonology in morphology, derivational versus inflectional morphology, the linguistic study of syntax, and how variation in morphology and syntax distinguishes English and other languages’ dialects, especially in forensic linguistic contexts. Students will engage in practical problems investigating cases where morphology and syntax are relevant to criminal or legal contexts.
