MFT 270 - Practicum and Ethical Issues in Couple, Marriage and Family Therapy II

Spring, Summer

This practicum builds and expands upon the learning and experience that began in MFT 269. Students develop increasingly sophisticated integration of clinical theory, ethical principles, and experiential knowledge with which to support clients and establish themselves as professionals in the MFT field. Course activities involve discussion of AAMFT ethical principles and systemic clinical theories as they apply to real-world practice, case presentations and discussion, role-plays, and viewing of recorded therapy sessions with clients. This course includes supervised clinical fieldwork during which students complete a minimum of 50 direct client contact hours toward the required total needed to graduate from the MFT program . Accumulation of 100 direct client contact hours (+/- 20%) must be achieved in order to pass the practicum and register for MFT 298 .

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
A grade of B or better must be achieved to pass the practicum and register for MFT 298  and 299 . MFT 238 , 266 , 267 , and COUN 210 . May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
