A multi-contextual approach to the communication skills needed to build the patient-provider relationship and to facilitate quality, patient-centered care. Counseling skills regarding topics such as substance abuse, sexual issues and breaking bad news will be taught, as well as the skills needed to address the angry, grieving or fearful patient.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Open only to students enrolled in the professional phase of the Physician Assistant Studies Program. May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
