REHB 241 - Case Management and Quality Assurance in Rehabilitation Counseling Semester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring
The purpose of this course is to examine the concept of case management as a critical component of the role of the rehabilitation counselor. There will also be an emphasis on the importance of community outreach and the rehabilitation counselor’s role in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with community agencies and interdisciplinary professionals. This course will focus on both case and caseload management, as well as challenges associated with each stage of the rehabilitation process. Core topics include evidence-based practices in case management, caseload analysis and goal-setting, case-recording and documentation, ethical case management decision-making, emergency preparedness, and consultation with stakeholders in the case. In alignment with performance-driven outcomes, the principles of client satisfaction, program evaluation, and quality improvement will be addressed. The context for case management will be from both the state VR public service system and private/community-based sectors.
