SPCH 227 - Speech-Language Specialty Clinic Semester Hours: 0.5
Fall, Spring, Summer
Supervised specialty clinic practicum for both therapeutic and diagnostic services. Students will be assigned to one (1) specialty clinic, during which they will conduct evaluations and provide therapeutic services to individuals with communication disorders. A mandatory weekly seminar will be held that focuses on professional, ethical, and legal issues, and on theories and critical clinical skills pertinent for the clients assigned within the specialty clinic.
Specialty Clinics include, but are not limited to, social-pragmatic language therapy for toddlers; language-literacy therapy for children in child care settings; language-literacy therapy for monolingual and bilingual children in elementary-school settings; and cognitive-communication group treatment for geriatric residents in nursing home settings.
