NUR 263B - Advanced Adult-Gerontology in Acute Care III


Semester Hours: 4
This is the third of four clinical courses which focus on complex symptom management related to urgent, emergent, and chronically ill patients within the acute care setting.  The goal of the course is to provide the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner student with the ability to use critical decision making to formulate a differential diagnosis, comprehensive, evidence-based management, as well as pharmacological management for the urgent, emergent, and chronically ill adult-gerontologic patients within a framework of safe, holistic, culturally competent, scientifically sound, quality-patient centered care. Health promotion, maintenance, and disease prevention are emphasized, along with risk assessment.  An intensive advanced skills lab and simulation occur during the semester to build on skills during the clinical practicum.

PrerequisiteNUR 262A; NUR 262B. Co-requisites: NUR 263A. Grading is mandatory Pass/Fail.
