NUR 400 - Clinical Independent Residency
Semester Hours: 1-3
This course is designed to allow the student to have an in-depth study of a selected area of interest. The course requires students to submit a detailed outline describing topical objectives, strategies for achieving objectives, and evaluation criteria for approval before registration. This course supports clinical progression in applying knowledge in a supervised clinical advanced practice residency elective or attaining additional knowledge to support progression in a doctoral project. Students may choose to design a specialized six (6) credit specialization in advanced practice specialty cognates (e.g., Primary Rural Care, HIV, Palliative Care, Transplant Medicine, Addiction Medicine, etc.) with their Program Director. Students at the Program Director’s discretion can agree to take a specialized clinical independent residency to garner additional knowledge to complete the doctoral project. The course aims to provide learners the depth, breadth, volume, and intensity of clinical training and/or translational research knowledge necessary to care for complex patients in settings of interest.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Matriculation within the DNP Program. Written permission and agreement required from a faculty adviser, Program Director, and Chair of the Program.
