MSAT 200 - Foundations of Athletic Training Seminar Semester Hours: No credit This course introduces students to the foundational knowledge, skills and professional behaviors of athletic trainers. Course delivery includes classroom lectures and skills instruction, as well as online learning applications. Topics include: history of athletic training; modern athletic training practice settings, roles and responsibilities; governmental and administrative organizations in athletic training; medical terminology; evidence-based practice; principles of interprofessional practice; principles of culturally competent care; introduction to clinical documentation and patient care planning; emergency action procedures, introduction to legal concepts in athletic training; basic injury prevention and primary care interventions.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Open only to students enrolled in the Master of Science in Athletic Training program.
