MPHY 246 - Clinical Observership in Radiation Therapy Physics Semester Hours: 1-3 Fall, January Spring, Summer
Internship of radiation therapy physics by shadowing clinical radiation oncology physicists for modules selected from the following: (1) Simulation: importing and image fusion; (2) 3D treatment planning; (3) Simple IMRT planning; (4) Patient specific QA; (5) Monthly/Annual QA of LINAC; (6) brachytherapy; (7) Gamma Knife SRS/SBRT; (8) linac-based SRS/SBRT; (9) IGRT. Each module requires 16 days (or 128 hours) of clinical conservation of the clinical work specified for that module. The student will earn 1 s.h. for each completed module.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: MPHY 240. Co-requisites: MPHY 245. Open only to students enrolled in the MS program in medical physics or permission of program director. May be repeated for credit. Pass/Fail grade only.
