PSC 129 - (BH) The Administration of Justice in America

The American criminal justice process must balance two contradictory goals: (1) crime control stressing the safety of individuals and society, and (2) due process stressing individual liberty and freedom. This course, through the examination of historical and contemporary criminal cases (from the Salem Witch Trials to the OJ Simpson case), explores the legal, ideological, political, and procedural characteristics of the federal and state criminal justice systems.
