PSY 070 - Evolutionary Psychology

Semester Hours: 3
Once a Year
This course will focus on why we are the way we are (human nature).  Evolutionary psych provides a scientific viewpoint to understand the ultimate origins of human nature. Topics covered include:  Why do we enjoy fattening foods? Why do men and women differ so much in their interests?  Why do men and women respond to sexual cues so differently? Why do people care so much about status? Where does sibling rivalry come from? Why do humans experience the emotions they do? Why are people so quick to form groups and label others as outsiders? Why is the world in a perpetual state of war? Is human behavior very different from other animals?

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
PSY 001  or 001A .
