BAN 157F: AI & Data Science for Sustainable Solutions in Earth & Business
Antonios Marsellos, Geology, Environment, and Sustainability, and Lian Duan, Information Systems and Business Analytics
This interdisciplinary course bridges the worlds of AI, Data Science, Sustainability, Geology, and Business, offering hands-on experience in both Geoscience and Business applications. Earth Science, Computer Science, and Business students will work together in teams, using AI-powered analysis, data visualization, and computational modeling with R and Python to address real-world challenges. Potential topics for exploration include geohazards, environmental risk assessment, sustainability planning, customer dispute prediction, Bitcoin sustainability, and the impact of ESG violations on market value. Under the guidance of two co-teaching instructors, this course offers valuable experience in cross-disciplinary teamwork, problem-solving, and professional communication, equipping students with the skills to tackle the complex challenges of the future.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: IT 015 , BAN 122 , junior class standing or above, and any additional prerequisites as stated in the course schedule. As individual subjects are selected, each is assigned a letter (A-Z) which is affixed to the course number. Students may take up to two of these courses to fulfill their major requirements so long as each seminar has a different letter designation.
