FIN 145 - Introduction to Applied Sustainable FinanceSemester Hours: 3 This is an applied course that covers sustainability (ESG; environmental, social, and governance) issues in corporate financial management and sustainable investing. Students have a unique experiential learning opportunity to deploy actual funds and manage a portfolio of assets by conducting financial research and ESG analysis. Sustainable investing aims to identify investment opportunities that augment financial returns with the potential to make progress in addressing global challenges such as environmental degradation, social inequality, and corporate governance issues. The historical development, current practices, and emerging trends in sustainable finance are surveyed. Coverage is provided of approaches to implementing sustainable investing, such as ESG integration, impact investing, and socially responsible investing (SRI) screening.
