PHI 018 - (HP) Thinking about AnimalsSemester Hours: 3 Fall
This course explores the ways human beings have thought about and treated animals. Focus is on how the tradition of humanism (including the idea that humans are especially exceptional or fundamentally different from other animals and that we should be at the center of concern) has functioned to legitimize the oppression of other animals. Post-humanism is a movement away from, and beyond, the species prejudice evident in many corners of our culture.
