LAW 2742 - Federal Civil Litigation Practice Clinical Practicum Students who work with the Hofstra Law Federal Civil Litigation Practice Clinical Practicum for credit must enroll in this course. Each student must work a minimum of 12 hours per week with the Program, and must produce a minimum of 15 pages of substantial written work. Faculty supervisors will oversee students in a variety of lawyering skills in connection with the limited scope representation provided to clients with legal matters in federal court, including interviewing and counseling clients, drafting motions and other court papers, and assisting with discovery and settlement conferences. Students’ field placement work will be evaluated by the faculty supervisors, who will also require regular reflective writing and discussion about the students’ experience. Students must also enroll in the weekly two-hour, two-credit seminar, entitled Federal Civil Practice Skills, which is designed as a companion course with the externship to engage students in the learning, discussion, and performance of relevant legal doctrine, theory, skills and legal ethics.
