MPHY 220 - Radiation Protection and Radiation Safety Semester Hours: 3 Fall
Introduction to and historical perspectives on health physics and radiation protection. Topics include: interaction physics as applied to radiation protection, operational dosimetry, radiation detection instrumentation, shielding properties and design, statistics, radiation monitoring of personnel, internal exposure, environmental dispersion, biological effects, regulations, high-/low-level waste disposal, non-ionizing radiation.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Open only to students enrolled in the MS in Medical Physics program, the Advanced Certificate in Medical Physics program, or the Advanced Certificate in Medical Dosimetry program, or by permission of the program director.
