RTVF 119 - Screenwriting 2

Semester Hours: 3
Fall, Spring
In this course students finish the screenplay they began writing in RTVF 118. Through lectures,  readings, screenings, film analysis, and in-class critiques, students will further explore story structure, including theme, character, crisis, confrontation, and resolution while developing a feature-length screenplay. Students will first re-examine and revise Act 1 of their screenplay. Then they will write a step-outline for the entire feature-length screenplay (60 or more scenes). Using the scenes and sequences of their step outline, they will write their second and third acts. The goal is to finish the course with a polished, professional first draft. Students must have a treatmeent and Act 1 of properly formatted material in order to participate in the course.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
RTVF 118 and permission of the department. May not be taken on a Pass/D+/D/Fail basis. (Formerly AVF 117; RTVF 117, Advanced Screenwriting.)
