NCS 165 - Human Rights and Human Values in Post-WWII Europe

Spring
This interdisciplinary course provides students with an exposure to human rights issues and conflicts arising out of World War II and the post-war era in Europe. Concerns about human rights and values originating in ideological, historical, and cultural differences will be higlighted by examination of contemporary issues such as human trafficking, the rights of Roman citizens, and the relationship between human rights and environmental issues. This course is part of thr European Odyssey Program; site visits include the Terezin concentration camp in the Czech Republic; Third Reich landmarks; Holocaust Memorial and Jewish Museum in Berlin; and EU institutions housing human rights documents and related materials.

Permission of instructor. May not be taken on a Pass/D+/D/Fail basis.
