MPHY 220 - Radiation Protection and Radiation Safety Semester Hours: 3 Fall
Introduction to and historical perspectives on health physics and radiation protection. Topics include: interaction physics as applied to radiation protection, operational dosimetry, radiation detection instrumentation, shielding properties and design, statistics, radiation monitoring of personnel, internal exposure, environmental dispersion, biological effects, regulations, high-/low-level waste disposal, non-ionizing radiation.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Open only to students enrolled in the MS program in medical physics or permission of program director. May not be taken on Pass/Fail basis. (Formerly Health Physics and Radiation Protection; 2 s.h.)
