LIBR 001 - Introduction to Library and Information TechnologySemester Hours: 1 The Library and Information Technology course traces the information/knowledge continuum to illustrate the ways in which individuals gain access to knowledge and scholarship via library resources. The course is designed to assist students in acquiring the critical thinking and information literacy skills needed to gather information independently, to evaluate and organize what is collected, and to apply these skills in completing course assignments and in functioning in the workplace or in graduate school. With an emphasis on electronic resources, these objectives are examined within the context of the American library tradition and the role that libraries fulfill in the dissemination of information and knowledge.
