Bachelor of Arts Programs

The Department of Radio, Television, Film offers three programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Candidates for graduation from The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication  with the degree of Bachelor of Arts must fulfill the BA requirements as listed under The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication. In addition, students majoring in an area within the Department of Radio, Television, Film must complete the program requirements listed below, plus a liberal arts minor. The minor must consist of 18 semester hours as defined by that discipline, of which at least 6 hours must be taken in residence.

Transfer students majoring in areas within the Department of Radio, Television, Film must complete at least 24 hours in residence in the major field of study. Transfer credits are subject to the approval of the Department of Radio, Television, Film of The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication and are approved only for those courses meeting the department’s curriculum requirements and course standards.

(NOTE: Major and minor fields will be listed on the student’s record. Only courses acceptable for the major may be applied toward the minor. Grades of C- or better are required for the major and minor. Students may not take a course for which they received less than C- in a prerequisite. Pass/D+/D/Fail credit will be given toward an academic major and minor for courses offered only on this basis.)

Bachelor of Fine Arts Programs

The Department of Radio, Television, Film offers two programs leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree: the BFA in Filmmaking, and the BFA in Writing for the Screen.

Candidates for graduation from The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication with the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts must fulfill the BFA requirements as listed under The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication. In addition, students majoring in an area within the Department of Radio, Television, Film must complete the program requirements listed below plus a liberal arts minor. The minor must consist of 18 semester hours as defined by that discipline, of which at least 6 hours must be taken in residence.

Bachelor of Science Programs

Candidates for graduation from The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication  with the degree of Bachelor of Science must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Students must complete at least 124 semester hours with at least 24 hours in-residence in the major field of study. Transfer credits are subject to the approval of the Department of Radio, Television, Film of The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication  and are approved only for those courses meeting the department’s curriculum requirements and course standards.
  2. Student must fulfill the BS requirements as listed under The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication , and
  3. Student must complete the program requirements listed under one of the  .
