Theater Arts, BFA Major in

For the student preparing for a career in the practice of theater as a performer, director, designer or technician. The BFA degree (in performance or production) is intended to provide a small, specialized group of such students with a high level of competence.

Program Requirements


Candidates for graduation with the BFA degree in theater arts must fulfill the following requirements:

1. The Successful Completion of at Least 132 Semester Hours


The successful completion of at least 132 s.h. and a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 in work completed at Hofstra.

2. Liberal Arts Requirements - Semester Hours: 62


At least 62 semester hours of the total must be in liberal arts.

3. Residence Requirements


Candidates must spend the last six semesters of fulltime study in residence at Hofstra.

4. BFA Requirements


The successful completion of all BFA Requirements in the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences section  of this Bulletin.

5. Demonstration Requirements


Demonstration of proficiency satisfactory to the drama faculty as determined by a fall and spring evaluation of majors and a senior project.

6. Annual Requirements
