The master’s program in curriculum studies is offered by the Department of Teaching, Learning and Technology . The program is for students interested in pursuing studies in the development of elementary, middle school, and high school curriculum, but who are not interested in receiving New York state teacher certification. The program blends on-campus preparation with field experiences in a variety of school settings, including high-needs schools. This program provides an interdisciplinary approach to the study of curriculum. Courses of study are selected under advisement. Some courses require field placements.

Admission Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in liberal arts and sciences concentration.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75 in each of two categories:
♦ Overall undergraduate course work
♦ Course work in the liberal arts and sciences
- Students with a GPA lower than 2.75 but not below 2.5 may be considered for provisional acceptance subject to special conditions.
- A written personal statement of professional intent and rationale.
- Two letters of reference addressing the applicant’s potential to succeed in graduate course work.
The department understands that any single criterion may not reliably predict a candidate’s potential for success in a graduate program. Candidates are welcome to apply if they do not meet one of the criteria but feel that other aspects of their experiences might compensate. Program Requirements – Total Semester Hours: 37
The graduate director will review the academic standing of all graduate students at the end of each semester. A student must maintain a 3.0 average to be considered in good standing. Students who do not maintain a 3.0 average will be placed on academic probation. Students who earn more than one C-, C, or C+ per semester, accumulate more than two C-, C, or C+ grades in their graduate coursework, or receive a D or an F in any course will be dismissed from the program. In addition to the required GPA, students must demonstrate adequate competence and professionalism throughout all coursework and fieldwork. If the director or program faculty determines that a student has failed to demonstrate this standard, they will be dismissed from the program. Students may petition for readmission by following the School of Education Appeal policy.

Students must complete a department-approved curriculum project as part of the requirements for the degree. Graduation Requirements
- Completion of the 37 s.h. graduate course requirements in the MSEd in Curriculum Studies program.
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in overall graduate course work.
- Satisfactory completion of the department-approved curriculum project.
- All course work offered in satisfaction of the degree requirements must have been completed within a five-year period.
