Geographic Information System (GIS ) Option Program Requirements

A geographic information system (GIS) is a sub-field of geography that lets us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. GIS is a technological field that incorporates geographical features with tabular data in order to map, analyze, and assess real-world problems. GIS is becoming essential to understanding what is happening and what will happen in geographic space. Once we understand, we can recommend action.

For students with an interest in careers that require a knowledge of GIS, the GIS option provides a geographic foundation, supplemented by focused training in GIS techniques, methods and theories.
